I know this may seem a little off topic, especially for my first post on this site, but I really feel like it needs to be addressed.
If you’re thinking of getting into whisky, which one should you choose?
When I first thought of getting into whisky, like most people, I turned to Google. Unfortunately, I found plenty of people promoting generally single malts of at least 12 years.
Ok, that’s a start…
I wanted to be able to go to a bar and order something that I would like, without admitting I had no idea what I was talking about!
Enter the Speyside.
Whiskys from different regions have profoundly different tastes. Most people when starting out, aren’t fans of a real peaty drop. I’ve found a similarity in my favourite choices that allows me to pick with fair certainty, something lighter in taste, that I’m actually going to enjoy.
Here is my current favourite, available from most local bottle shops, including Dan Murphy’s;
